Yardi Supports Germany Flood Relief and Recovery Efforts

Global real estate technology provider makes donation to support local communities.

As Germany continues to recover after record rainfall caused devasting floods leaving thousands in western Germany without access to drinking water, electricity or gas, Yardi has donated to the German Red Cross to support relief and recovery efforts.

The company has made a €100,000 donation to the German Red Cross to support the affected people and the German flood relief efforts.

The German Red Cross (GRC) is the national Red Cross Society in Germany. With 4 million members, it is the third largest Red Cross society in the world. The GRC offers a wide range of services within and outside Germany and provides 52 hospitals, care for the elderly, children and youth.

The GRC has stated that it sees no signs of relief for many people in the disaster areas in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate yet. “The situation is disastrous and remains threatening. It is still a matter of saving lives and providing people with the most necessities”, said DRK President Gerda Hasselfeldt. “Many communities are still hard to access.”

“We’ve been shocked and saddened by the devastation caused to communities and individuals that have lost their homes and lives in the floods in Germany,” said Neal Gemassmer, vice president of international at Yardi. “Supporting our communities and those affected by disasters is an important part of Yardi’s philosophy of giving back.”

Disaster relief has been a longstanding part of Yardi’s corporate philanthropic program. In recent years the company supported recovery efforts from the Australia Fires in New South Wales and Victoria, Thomas Fire in Southern California, the Fort McMurray wildfire in Canada, Hurricane Irma in Florida and Hurricane Harvey in Texas. The company also contributed to mobile disaster response command centres in its hometown of Santa Barbara.
