Supersam Shopping Center in Poland gets transformed

Supersam, a shopping destination and office building in the city center of Katowice (Poland), is undergoing a transformation. The mixed-use property will be modernized and expanded.

Konior Studio, led by the Silesian architect Tomasz Konior, is responsible for the redevelopment project. The work should be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022. Most of the changes are to take place on the first floor, where more office space will be added.

One interesting decorative element that will be added is a large green wall covered with several dozen species of plants. Visitors and tenants will have access to, among other amenities, charging stations for cars and electric scooters, as well as extensive facilities for cyclists, including changing rooms and showers. In addition, a special Globalworth app will be launched. Supersam hold a BREEAM certificate at the ‘Excellent’ level and is 100% powered by green energy.

The first floor will welcome a new restaurant section – Koplania Smaków (“the Mine of Flavors”) – with a common area for eating meals. Shopping will also still be possible in the popular stores in the center, such as Aldi, Action, Dealz, Kik, Maxi Zoo, and Rossmann. The ongoing work will not disturb the functioning of the center, which will continue to welcome guests and customers throughout the entire process.

“When it comes to retail, our focus is on the specialization of everyday purchases, while in addition to this we are expanding the office section and thus strengthening the multifunctional nature of our center. We have decided that we do not want to compete with large shopping malls in this regard. We have opted for a different strategy for the development of Supersam, which in our opinion is better suited to the post-pandemic reality,” comments Barbara Wójcik, Senior Asset Manager at Globalworth Poland.
