Reconstructed Origo building in Riga is now open

One of the most ambitious investment projects - the expansion of the Origo shopping center and the Origo One business centre – is nearing its completion.

The reconstructed Origo shopping center building’s doors are now open to visitors, now featuring a new entrance from the Station Square. The project has allowed the area of the shopping center to be increased by more than half. Total investments in this remarkable project amount to around 75 million euros. The reconstruction work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020.

On the first floor of the reconstructed building, in its permanent location, the Info Center has started operating. Sales outlets and catering businesses will start their operations gradually. The reconstructed building will also house various shops and service providers. Thus, in addition to the already existing tenants in the shopping center – the only city center Rimi Hyper, Sportland, Reserved, Monton, Lindex, Skechers, Sinsay, RD Electronics, Evelatus, Bite, LMT, Douglas, Kunst&Hobi, Gabi, IQOS and others –, several new brands and services have been added, such as Dino Zoo, Fireman, Washbox, The Body Shop, Euronics, Stenders, Gym!, and very soon the doors of Toys Planet, Vapiano, Mohito and KFC will be opened to visitors.

“As the expansion of the Origo shopping center is taking place during these challenging times, we have made the safety of our visitors and employees our utmost priority. We have ensured that the conditions in the shopping center allow everyone to comply with national health requirements, and we call on the public to comply with these requirements – to protect not only ourselves but also others, including the salespeople and passers-by. With the opening of the reconstructed building, this large-scale investment project is nearing its completion, and very soon the shopping center will reveal itself in a new image, providing even better shopping experiences to our visitors,” says Commercial Director of Linstow Center Management shopping centers Evija Majevska.

With the opening of the new Station Square entrance (on Satekle Street side) of the reconstructed Origo building, the visitors now can easily and quickly move between the new building and the first and second floors of the reconstructed building, thanks to the seamless connections built between the two. The new interior concept of Origo visually invites its visitors to leisurely enjoy their shopping in its calm and cosy space.

Despite the increase in the number of shopping venues, in order to limit the spread of Covid-19 Origo shopping center continues to strictly observe all epidemiological safety measures to encourage physical distancing. Special attention is paid to ensure that the health and hygiene requirements are met by calling on everyone, in a variety of ways, to take care to protect themselves and others, and to remember to wear their face mask throughout the duration of their visit to the shopping centers premises.

As reported earlier, as part of this ambitious project the underground car-park has been expanded to accommodate up to 130 cars, including electric vehicles, a spacious, secure and easily accessible bicycle parking space for 72 bicycles has been added (additional bicycle parking space for 50 bicycles is available in the public outdoor area), as well as a free self-service bicycle repair stations.
