PLANNING PERMISSION SECURED FOR NEW FOOD HALL AT THE LIBERTY ROMFORD

The Liberty Romford in London has secured planning permission for a 2,600 sq m two-tier Food Hall as well as modernizing the center’s exterior façade along Western Road.

The plans, which were created by architects Prosper on behalf of Cosgrave Property Group, and permission secured by planning consultants Brock McClure, will see the creation of up to 15 fixed vendors as well as two pop-up vendors and a further two café-bars in space formerly occupied by BHS and Sports Direct.

“When Sports Direct recently left the center it created the ideal opportunity to create a significant Food & Beverage offer in an ideal location opposite the new leisure center on Western Road and close to the various existing F&B offers along South Street. Essentially, we wanted to build on the existing F&B offer in the town and create a new and vibrant place for people to come and socialise. Prosper can be proud of delivering exactly what we were looking to achieve. Detailed designs are ongoing and interest in the kiosk units is particularly strong. We look forward to bringing the plans to life in the spring of 2020”, said Ronan Rooney, Head of Commercial Property for Cosgrave Property Group

“Cosgrave made it clear in the design brief they wanted The Liberty to offer a dynamic dining and leisure space that would deliver a whole new level of engagement for their customers. By understanding the needs of the local community we’ve created a destination with compelling reasons to visit. In this new age of retail, the Food Hall will ensure The Liberty remains the go-to destination in the heart of Romford, it will become more than just a place to shop”, said Adam Taylor, Creative Director at Prosper.
