Placewise Wins PropTech Breakthrough “Commercial Property Management Platform of the Year”

The annual awards program recognizes innovation in the global real estate technology industry. The company wins the awards for second year in a row with Tenant Connect.

PropTech Breakthrough, a leading independent market intelligence organization that evaluates and recognizes standout real estate technology companies, products and services around the globe, today announced that it has selected Placewise, the global leader in retail real estate property tech, as winner of the “Commercial Property Management Platform of the Year” award. The award is the second win in a row in the same category for Placewise. The Placewise Marketplace Performance Cloud was selected as the Commercial Property Management Platform of the year in 2021.

The mission of the annual PropTech Breakthrough Awards program is to conduct the industry’s most comprehensive analysis and evaluation of the top technology companies, solutions and products in the real estate technology industry today. This year’s program attracted more than 1,500 nominations from all over the world, some of the winners from other categories include Rocket Mortgage, OpenDoor, Appfolio, BH, Brivo, Cherre, Curbio, Doma, Kocomo, TenantBase and an impressive list of top companies and startups in the PropTech industry.

“Our team is very proud to have been recognized by the Proptech Breakthrough Awards for the second year in a row. First in 2021 for our Marketplace Performance Cloud, and now for Tenant Connect”, said Placewise CEO, Peter Tonstad. “In commercial real estate most management tools are designed for office and residential properties. But retail real estate is one of the most complex property types to manage, and it presents special challenges. Tenant Connect can be used for many different property types but with features such as content collection, and tenant sales reporting, it’s ideally suited to any property with a retail component.”

Placewise’s Tenant Connect is a mobile app that brings communication between landlords and retail tenants into the digital age. It is simple to use, and scales easily from one center to hundreds. Tenant Connect keeps contact information current and organized and sends important notifications and emergency alerts to store and center employees. Super users overseeing large retail property portfolios can send individual or group communications, and view maintenance issue status or sales reports. Center employees can report an issue and attach a photo and receive status updates automatically – all from their mobile phones.

Before Tenant Connect, retail property managers used a patchwork of single-point and manual solutions including email, outdated spreadsheets, and clipboards when distributing important communications, for sales reporting, content collection and most day-to-day tasks. Maintenance and repairs have been managed with manual processes or ticketing systems that lack the 360-degree transparency needed for both center operations and retail tenants to efficiently report, track, and resolve these issues.

Tonstad said: “Tenant Connect reduces the time spent by the management team and retail tenants on manual processes – allowing them to refocus their time on driving value. We are so thankful to PropTech Breakthrough for recognizing our effort and innovation in this space.”
