intu scoops not one, but two Revo Golds

At last night’s Revo Annual Dinner (4 December), intu scooped two Revo Gold awards in a celebration of the best of the best in placemaking.

The two awards recognise intu’s expertise in developing retail and leisure destinations with a difference. The honours were awarded for intu’s retail and leisure extension at intu Watford in the Re:new category, and the leisure development at intu Lakeside in the Re:Lax category.

Matthew Roberts, intu chief executive said: “The developments at intu Watford and intu Lakeside epitomise how retail space is changing and how innovation coupled with a deep understanding of visitor expectations can create something very special.

“In both instances, the developments have not only created engaging, family-friendly day out destinations but have also had a significant impact on the performance of the overall schemes.

“Since the start of the year, footfall at intu Watford has increased by 19 per following the opening of the extension, whilst following the opening of the leisure extension at intu Lakeside in the summer, footfall has increased in the centre by 7 per cent.”

intu Watford has welcomed a number of new stores, restaurants and leisure operators including Hugo Boss, Zara, H&M, Uniqlo, Hollister, Hollywood Bowl and Cineworld. Whilst intu Lakeside has welcomed new brands such as Puttshack, Nickelodeon and Flipout

Revo Gold Awards recognise and celebrate the very best examples of development, investment and asset management in the increasingly diverse retail property and placemaking sector.  The Re:new category recognises developments that have taken the industry forward, whilst Re:Lax is a showcase of innovative catering or leisure projects demonstrating how the experience industry is reshaping the customer proposition.
