First Eurospar in France opens its doors in Corsica

SPAR is proud to announce the opening of the first EUROSPAR Supermarket in France. Located in the city centre of Ajaccio, the main city of Corsica, the new store brings an expanded range of healthier choices, organic and local products, and a wide fresh market area to the residents and holiday goers on the island.

In 1999, SPAR independent retailer Mario Marras first introduced the Spar Brand to Corsica by opening a Spar Supermarket. Proud of the local heritage and producers, Mario Marras emphasises local products from Corsica in his stores.

On a sales surface of 1,557m2, the Eurospar store in Ajaccio presents a full array of served counters showcasing the best fresh delicacies. The well-stocked meat counter, as well as the fresh fish and seafood, bakery, and delicatessen sections, are real footfall drivers. Their knowledgeable staff offers helpful product information and a high level of service.

Another highlight of this Eurospar store is the spacious fruit and vegetable area. An elegant, high-end wine section styled as a wine cellar offers an ample choice of great wines. Notably, the assortment includes many local bottles.

Spar France has traditionally operated two store formats: Spar convenience or neighbourhood stores and the larger Spar Supermarket format. Introducing the Eurospar format marks a major milestone. It results from best practice exchange within the international Spar network, where the Eurospar format has proven increasingly successful.
