Eurovea’s new food hall serves platter of gastronomic delights

Following Eurovea’s announcement of a contract with Primark international at year-end and 70% occupancy of the new extension, further details have been revealed. In cooperation with international real estate expert Sonae Sierra, Eurovea is unveiling a new food hall-style gastro passage concept.

Expansion heralds new opportunities

In its ten years, Eurovea has become a well-established and dependable retail centre with high footfall and strong market position. Its popularity is largely based on an exceptional location and unique mix of relaxation, entertainment, culture, shopping and services – right in the heart of Bratislava. “We follow customers‘ constantly evolving needs and expectations, as well as the latest market trends. Our extended centre will include even more attractive concepts and opportunities for quality shopping and leisure, ” explains Oľga Hammer, Eurovea‘s PR and marketing manager. An example is the innovative food hall-style gastro concept by the Sonae Sierra Conceptual Design & Architecture studio, which is behind the extension’s concept and recent redesign.

A gastronomic offer seasoned to taste

The current food court’s area will double to 3,700 m2, with 1,156 seats and 35 food outlets that reflect customers’ high expectations. The new concept incorporates a large, open space food hall that will bring visitors stylish and diverse gastro experiences. “We want it to be about food and where customers feel comfortable relaxing and unwinding,” adds Ms. Hammer. Jorge Morgadinho, Architect and Managing Director at Sonae Sierra Development Services, observes that gastro is one of the fastest-growing international sectors, with food halls becoming globally popular as the ideal place to enjoy food, work and meet friends: “We are bringing Eurovea a destination where visitors can explore world cuisine taste and aromas, enjoy local specialties with a new twist, and even mix their own drink at a specialized bar. The hall features multifunctional zones such as children’s play area, entertainment, stage for presentations and performances, and a relaxation and social zone with Danube views – which inspired the whole design process.”

This innovative new concept offers an additional option to the riverside restaurants and original refurbished food court. The design process targeted the new food hall‘s visibility from lower floors, and reflects elements of water, stone and greenery that reference the beautiful Danube riverside. The aim was to create a space that celebrates diversity, rowing in the Danube, entertainment and dynamism where everyone feels at ease – where the design is inspired by contrasting materials such as wood, concrete tiles and stone flooring.

However visitors like to spend their free time, Eurovea will continue to be the destination of choice for quality time spent with family and friends.
