DI Group expands “Rathaus Center Pankow” for more than €12 million

Deutsche Immobilien-Gruppe (DI Group) is now investing more than €12 million in the expansion and renewal of its shopping center "Rathaus Center Pankow". The extension will create about 2,100 sq m, 7% more space.

In addition, there will be a comprehensive refurbishment of the mall and new access areas to the center in Berlin, including new ceilings, lounge areas, a modern lighting concept, a revised wayfinding system, and upgraded areas in front of the elevators.

“We are sustainably enhancing the ambience and quality of stay in the ‘Rathaus Center’ and at the same time broadening the range of products and services on offer,” says Benedikt Jagdfeld, the owner and Managing Director of DI. “The fact that we initiated this in the middle of Corona and can now finally implement it after lengthy approval procedures makes me particularly proud.”

While the refurbishment is scheduled for completion at the end of the year, the handover of the space in the extension to tenants is planned for early 2023. There, among others, Rossmann will be represented with a significantly enlarged store, from around 700 sq m to 1,000 sq m.

Customers are already benefiting from the rapid progress of the construction work. Deichmann, for instance, took advantage of the work in the center to build a new modern store, which will reopen at the same location today (525 sq m). And in April, the owner-operated fashion store “Mila Moda” (85 sq m) and the bubbletea store “Bobalism” (86 sq m) will open their doors on the first floor.

The DI Group developed and built the “Rathaus-Center Pankow” in 1999 and since then it has been managed for an institutional investor. With almost 30,000 sq m of space, 80 stores and an attached medical center, it is a central shopping center of Berlin’s largest district. Anchor tenants are Kaufland, C&A, and MEDIMAX.
