Croatian Coordination of non-food retail and shopping centers

Under the umbrella of Croatian Employers Association (CEA), the Coordination of non-food retail and shopping centers has been organized upon the initiative of the Developers Association and Retail Association both under CEA in Zagreb on March 26, 2020.

The Croatian Employers Association is a social partner to the Government of Croatia and the only representative of the Association of Croatian Business Entities. 

The primary goal is to support the initiatives of business sectors which are currently struggling due to governmental opening restrictions for businesses because of corona pandemic. Based on the best experiences of national shopping center councils and retail associations of other EU countries Coordination will be a regular association of retailers and retail real estate operators as well as a common voice to the stakeholders.

Until the regular assembly meeting, Denis Cupic will be the President of the Coordination, MRICS, acting President of Croatian Developers Association under CEA and chairman of the F.O. / Group and Head of Asset management Westgate Shopping City Zagreb, Vice-Presidents chairs are being held by Jurica Lovrincevic from PEVEX and Slobodan Skolnik from Emmezeta.

Initiative members are representatives of Tekstilpromet, Tekstil, Aria, Leggiero, Batak, Gallileo, Ghetaldus, Hilding Anders, Portanova, Calzedonia, 

Coordination proposed 7 compensation measures to the Croatian Government, including a partial wage support from government and full reduction of communal tax, which have already been accepted. Further measures are being intensely discussed with Government of Croatia to support stationary retail,  among others, a taxation implementation of cross border online retail with a domestic VAT and incentive schemes for retail companies and shopping centers registered in Croatia.
