Construction of Galeria Chełm has started

Construction works of the Acteeum Group and Equilis Polska joint project – Galeria Chełm – have just begun. Investors have signed a contract with KARMAR S.A. which is becoming the general contractor of the project. Galeria Chełm with a GLA of 17.5 thousand sq m will be the first shopping center in Chełm and at the same time the first joint venture of both investors.

The project will be covered with an overall budget of approximately EUR 30 million. and is scheduled for opening in the first quarter of 2020.

“We are delighted that the long-awaited moment of transition from the “paper” stage of the Galeria Chełm project to the actual implementation phase is just taking place. With the selection of a general contractor – KARMAR S.A. – we have started construction works of this first Retail project in our Polish portfolio. Through developing the Chełm shopping center we want to create a unique place that has never been available in the city before – meeting not only shopping needs, but also the lifestyle and entertainment expectations of customers,” explains Monika Woźniak-Zawioła, CEO of Equilis in Poland.

“Galeria Chełm is the next Retail project developed by Acteeum jointly with a large investor. We believe that the Chełm project, which has just entered the construction works stage will become a success for the tenants and customers of Galeria Chełm, as well as for us – investors,” says Tomasz Szewczyk, Managing Partner of Acteeum Central Europe.

Recently selected general contractor – KARMAR S.A. – will construct a modern and multi-functional retail facility with a total GLA of 17.5 thousand sqm. The plot on which the new shopping center will be developed is located at the junction of Lubelska and Rejowiecka streets (Chełm beltway), in the spot constituting the main transportation hub of the city. The Galeria Chełm’s catchment area covers nearly 300,000 residents as well as the cross-border traffic with Ukraine and Belarus. Galeria Chełm will offer 55 commercial premises and over 550 parking spaces.

“Galeria Chełm project perfectly fits into our strategy of geographic diversification and development of our activity in the cubature facilities market,” explains Joanna Makowiecka-Gaca, President of the Board of KARMAR S.A. “Our company has extensive experience in the construction of shopping centers throughout Poland. In addition, as part of Bouygues Construction, we have access to know-how and engineering facilities that the company has gained through projects delivered globally. We are delighted with the cooperation we have just started with the new partners – Acteeum Group and Equilis Polska and we are convinced that this will be the beginning of a long-term cooperation,” adds Joanna Makowiecka-Gaca.

A year before the grand opening Galeria Chełm has already been almost entirely commercialized. Among the tenants that will open their stores in Galeria Chełm are already such known brands as Lidl, CCC, SMYK, Rossmann, RTV Euro AGD, Martes Sport, Reserved, Sinsay, House, Cropp, home&you, Pepco, Diverse, Swiss, Ziaja or Księgarnie Świat Książki as well as widely recognized dining and services brands.
