Allee-Center Remscheid to be modernised and upgraded for more than 25 million euros – EDEKA and ALDI Nord new future tenants

The Allee-Center Remscheid will be extensively modernized and repositioned for the future, as the center operator ECE Marketplaces has now announced. For this purpose, the asset manager DWS intends to invest more than 25 million euros in the redesign and upgrading of the shopping center in the town center of Remscheid on behalf of one of its real estate funds over the next two years. Center operator ECE Marketplaces is responsible for the planning and implementation of the modernization.

“We are convinced of the location and the strength of the Allee-Center as an urban marketplace of the future,” says Joanna Fisher, CEO of ECE Marketplaces. “Especially in good and established locations like this one, shopping centers will continue to be very successful. For this, it is important to continue to develop them and to keep them up to date.”

There are also new additions to the tenant mix: EDEKA and ALDI Nord have been secured as future tenants and, together with other complementary tenants, will strengthen the local shopping competence of the Allee-Center after the conversion.

A large part of the investment will go into the restructuring and future changes in the tenant mix as well as the modernization of the center. This is intended to further strengthen the appeal of the inner-city center and to optimize and further develop the shopping experience and range of products in the tradition-rich center.

In addition, there will be completely new floor, wall and ceiling designs, a modern orientation and signage system as well as cozy seating and lounge areas, which will provide more quality of stay and a modern ambience. The extensive renovation work will be carried out in parallel. Construction is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2022, with completion at the beginning of 2023.

The Allee-Center was opened in 1986 and offers around 100 shops on a sales area of 30,000 m² as well as over 2,000 m² of office and practice space for medical facilities. There are 950 parking spaces in its own multi-storey car park. The anchor tenants include H&M, Saturn and C&A. Around 30,000 visitors* visit the Allee-Center every day.
