Angel Central to host Food Wave campaign pop-up and installation

CBRE Investment Management to welcome the educational activation to Islington in collaboration with ReLondon, a partnership between the Mayor of London and the London boroughs.

CBRE Investment Management has announced a new Food Wave campaign and installation at Angel Central, taking place from 8th – 10th July, to educate and inspire young Londoners to reduce waste and spread the word about the impact that food has on the planet.

Over the three days, Angel Central will host a pop-up run by ReLondon, located on the ground floor next to Paperchase and Uniqlo, delivering a calendar of events ranging from cookery workshops to stalls and competitions, all designed to empower visitors to enjoy a more sustainable approach to buying, storing, eating – and even growing – their food.

After a huge drop in household food waste during the pandemic, food waste has now shot back up to 2018 levels and as part of a collaboration with surplus food app and social impact company, Too Good to Go, two giant sculptures will be on display at Angel Central, to bring attention to the impact that food waste has on the environment.

Arielle Vetro, ReLondon’s campaign manager for Food Wave, commented: “The Food Wave campaign is all about encouraging a new generation of food activists, highlighting the connection between the way we grow, eat and throw away our food, and its impact on the planet. We can’t wait to launch the pop-up in Islington as it will give us the chance to have conversations with young north Londoners and find out how they’re feeling about the climate crisis, and what they know about how food directly affects it.”

Commenting on the forthcoming activation Ciara Daffy, Asset Manager at CBRE Investment Management, added: “Sustainability is central to our business strategy and the Food Wave activation is a fantastic example of educational campaigns being brought to the capital in a creative and informative way. We want to support initiatives like this partnership with ReLondon and the Mayor of London at Angel Central to help raise awareness on the subject of food waste to the local community of Islington and visitors alike.”
