MEC on course for growth: retail property specialist takes over 25 employees from Metro Properties

The retail real estate specialist MEC, national market leader for the management of retail parks, is building its strong market position with the addition of 25 specialists in the areas accounting and contract management. The employees at the MEC Competence Center in Saarbrücken will become part of the MEC team in the course of a transfer of operations from Metro Properties.

• Opening of the MEC competence center in Saarbrücken
• Increase in specialists in accounting and Contract management strengthens positive business development

“The current increase in technically experienced colleagues is a very valuable gain in competence,” explains Sebastian Kienert, CFO of MEC. The new teams in Saarbrücken have been supporting MEC since it was founded ten years ago on the basis of a service agreement between METRO PROPERTIES and MEC. Now the 25 employees will be part of the MEC team, which now has more than 220 colleagues. “We are thus supporting our quantitative growth strategy through qualitative growth,” says Kienert happily.

In the Corona year 2020, MEC achieved a letting record with 200 new and follow-up leases on a total area of 85,000 square meters and is currently negotiating further mandates with well-known portfolio owners.

With the transfer of operations of the employees in Saarbrücken to MEC, the Düsseldorf company is also starting its competence center in Saarland. Christian Schröder, COO of MEC: “It corresponds to our philosophy as an agile organization. In Saarbrücken we can win two well-functioning, successful teams for the MEC. So it stands to reason that we also position ourselves geographically in Saarland.”

All colleagues underwent a corona test before the opening of our MEC competence center and followed the strict hygiene measures in the building.
