The Shopping-Plaza in Garbsen opens Corona rapid test centre

Since 08 March, every citizen in Germany is entitled to a weekly rapid test. As one of the first shopping centres in Germany, the Shopping-Plaza in Garbsen opened a centre for Corona testing on 10 March, responding to the high demand for testing capacity.

“We define the shopping centres we operate as active parts of its cities and communities and have therefore already been active with CSR several times during the Covid-19 pandemic. Our centres are more than just places for shopping- they are central meeting places. Therefore, it was definit that we wanted to support the local communities and immediately develop an offer for the residents,” says Hubert Stech, Managing Director of Multi Germany.

Cooperation makes it possible

“Together with the owner of the Shopping-Plaza we have been looking for ways to support the city of Garbsen with a test centre and in particular to offer the community an added value in these challenging times,” says Centre Manager Merlin Varol.

The aim of the centre is not only to create additional regional testing capacities but also to support a safe and gradual opening of retail and cultural institutions. With the local test centre, once it is announced that shops and facilities can reopen, it now can be ensured that the needed test capacities are available, for example, to allow people to visit beauty salons, fitness studios or cinemas again.

An important success factor for the fast implementation are active cooperations, in this case the local pharmacy in the Shopping-Plaza. The medically trained staff of the Kosmos Pharmacy carries out the testing. These are expressly no self-tests.

“We are very pleased to have such a committed tenant for the on-site testing centre. This has contributed significantly to this quick implementation in Garbsen,” says Centre Manager Merlin Varol.

The Corona test centre in the Shopping-Plaza in Garbsen is the first in the Multi Germany portfolio. Further locations and cooperations are currently being evaluated.
