Denis Sokolov appointed as Chair of ULI Russia

The Urban Land Institute (ULI) has announced the appointment of Denis Sokolov, Partner and Head of Research and Insight at Cushman & Wakefield, as Chair of ULI Russia – one of 14 European National Councils.

Denis’ two-year term, which is served on a voluntary basis, officially began on 1 October 2020.

ULI is the world’s oldest and largest network of cross-disciplinary real estate experts, with more than 45,000 members globally. As Chair of ULI Russia, Sokolov will focus on increasing both the membership and event activity, putting together an engaging and impactful programme which will subsequently add value to the ULI membership in this region. Sokolov has been a ULI member for four years and has been actively involved as a member of the ULI Europe Urban Regeneration Product Council.

Upon his appointment, Denis Sokolov said, “I am honored to have been given this opportunity to lead ULI Russia through the next period. In times of a pandemic and lockdown, when usual communication channels are disrupted, professional communications and ideas exchange become critical. All of us are facing the same challenges, however regional specifics make things even more complicated. I believe that enforcement of the ULI platform in Russia will help not only local business and investment community, but also can help reestablishing ties between markets, industries and professional leagues. I am looking forward to being part of this process of creating a new reality.”

Lisette van Doorn, ULI Europe CEO, said, “We are very pleased to announce Denis as the Chair of ULI Russia. This is a perfect time, with a growing digital programme within ULI, providing a great opportunity for members to exchange knowledge and best practice on a local as well as international level. Innovative examples of thinking about public spaces include the Moscow Street Program, which reimagined more than 200 public spaces across the Russian capital ahead of the 2018 FIFA Men’s World Cup and was a worthy winner of the 2019 ULI Global Awards for Excellence. We look forward to closely working with and supporting Denis, and his executive committee, to grow the Russian membership base and deliver a programme that will provides value to members.”

“It is an exciting time for ULI Russia,” said Marnix Galle, ULI Europe Chairman. “With Denis’ extensive experience in the real estate industry, we believe that he will bring new energy to the National Council and we look forward to the collaboration to grow ULI’s presence in Russia.”
