Poseidon opens first retail park in Zajecar, Serbia

Capitol Park Zajecar, a EUR 10M retail real estate investment led by British "Poseidon Group" and Belgian "Mitiska REIM", opened on May 30, 2019.

Celebrations at the first modern retail park in Zajecar were attended by the mayor of Zajecar, Bosko Nicic, and other city officials, as well as retailer representatives. The plot of 20,000 sq m and 6,500 sq m of retail space is situated in the city centre, on Cupiceva street, next to a densely populated residential zone.

“We are pleased to announce the opening of our fifth retail park in Serbia.  Poseidon has been present in Serbia for more than a decade as a commercial real estate investor, developer and asset manager, and in the past five years alone, we have opened Capitol Parks in Sabac, Sombor, Belgrade and Leskovac. We decided to invest in Zajecar because of its central location in the Borsko-Zajecarski district and the improving economic outlook for the city. This retail complex will generate new shopping and leisure facilities in the city and also boost the economy of Zajecar by bringing more than 200 new job roles into the city”, said James Gunn, Poseidon Group corporate affairs director.

Mayor Nicic emphasised the significance of this investment for the city: “The arrival of Capitol Park to Zajecar brought a fresh shopping experience and created a new city centre, but more importantly it brought new jobs to our community. This demonstrates the city’s progress and proof that we are heading in the right direction.  Once again we want to thank Poseidon Group for investing in Zajecar and making it a part of their retail park family.”

Seventeen well known Serbian and international brands, among which are JYSK, Studio Moderna (Top Shop), Extreme Intimo, Opposite shoes, Djak sport, Lilly, LC Waikiki, New Yorker, Deichmann, N Sport, MSG Elektronic, Gigatron, DM, Intersport and Exclusive change exchange office opened their doors, while Sinsay will be opened in June and Il Giardino café during the following months.
